How it works, and your rights

Last updated 22 September 2026.

How it works

  1. You pre-order items on this site and pay a deposit.
  2. Kya buys your items in person, overseas, and records the real price paid and the real exchange rate.
  3. We email you the final figures. Anything that could not be bought is not charged.
  4. When your items arrive in Australia, you pay the balance.
  5. We post them to you with tracking.

Every order has a private order page (the link is in every email) showing its progress and figures.

What you pay

Each item shows one estimated total price. It is made of:

  • Item cost:the park’s own price, converted into Australian dollars.
  • Shopping fee: our charge for buying, carrying and packing the item, including our margin.

Tracked shipping within Australia is A$15.00 per order. Your cart shows the full estimated total before you pay anything.

If an item’s price at the park turns out to be more than 10% higher than we listed, we will contact you before buying it, and you can cancel that item for a full refund of its share of the deposit.

Exchange rates: passed through at cost

Park prices are in the park’s currency. When you order, we convert them at our estimate of the exchange rate. When Kya actually buys your items, we use the real rate paid (from the card statement) instead, with no mark-up on the rate itself. Your final price can therefore be a little higher or lower than the estimate. Your order page shows both rates.

Deposits

The deposit is 30% of the estimated item cost (at least A$20.00). For a small order the deposit can be the whole item amount. Shipping is always part of the balance, not the deposit.

The balance

Once Kya has bought your items we recalculate the order at the actual prices and exchange rate and take off your deposit. If the deposit turns out to be more than the final total (for example because something could not be bought), we refund the difference to your card.

When your items land in Australia we email you a link to pay the balance. Please pay within 14 days. If we cannot reach you after that, we will get in touch to agree what happens next before doing anything with your items.

Cancelling

  • Before Kya has bought your items, you can cancel for a full refund of your deposit. Email us with your order number.
  • After they are bought, they have been bought to order for you, so we do not offer refunds for a change of mind. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (below).
  • If we have to cancel an order for any reason, we refund everything you have paid.

If an item cannot be bought

Park stock sells out and limits change. If Kya cannot buy an item, you are not charged for it at all (no item cost, no shopping fee). If nothing on your order could be bought, your whole deposit is refunded and there is no shipping charge.

Delivery

We post within Australia only, with tracking, after the balance is paid. Estimated arrival dates on each item are estimates, because they depend on trip dates and park release dates. We will keep you posted on your order page if anything changes.

Lost or damaged parcels (risk of loss)

Your items are our responsibility until they are delivered to the address you gave us. If a parcel is lost in the post, or arrives damaged, tell us within 7 days of delivery (or of the expected delivery date for a lost parcel) and we will replace the item if we can, or refund you.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

In short: if an item is faulty, not as described, or not what you ordered, contact us and we will put it right.

Genuine merchandise

Every item is bought new, in person, by Kya. We keep the receipts.

Customs and import charges

Getting your items into Australia is our job. If import duty or GST applies to your items, we will tell you before you pay the balance.

Quantity limits

Some parks limit how many of an item each guest can buy, especially limited editions. Each item shows its limit per order, and we may cap how many pre-orders we take in total.

Independence

Main Street Down Under is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Walt Disney Company. Items are sold as genuine merchandise bought at retail; we are not an authorised reseller of any brand.
